The weather is maybe (in my mind) letting up with this damn rain and so I decided to work Jade. Her in hand work's been fine and lots of fun but I wanted to get her out of her paddock and since the round pen was still mucky as well as the arena, I decided to go to the spooky part of the race track and see how that went. Armed with our leather halter, lunge whip, and long line, we walked around and just worked on simple concepts and Jade was pumped.
We ended up in a bunch of muddy muckiness so we quickly moved to the grassy which was about knee high. Jade thought it meant she should be fancy and do some airs above ground. Normally this would result in some real work on my part with any other horse, but Jade is so honest and happy that it was funny and a simple correction brought her back. All that work and all that fun though made for a hot and sweaty friesian so we ended with her looking forlorn (although she was actually pleased, I swear) and happy to eat some of the lush grass that she's normally denied. Spring? Let's hope!

This is Zara (CS Infatuation) an APHA paint filly that was born this past Saturday. She's sassy, naughty, and a bit wild - quite a difference from Edison last year! I went out to the breeding farm today and checked her out. Love the stockings that go on for miles and so so happy that she's got about a 50/50 color pattern. Sure color isn't everything, but it sure helps when you're making a Paint! Here's to day one together and our future! I'm just happy I got a filly :P
